“Media Art X Sewoon Plaza,” the third special exhibit on “Made in Cheonggyecheon” aims to discuss the unexpected achievements of the artisans at the Sewoon Plaza and along the Chenggyecheon stream. In the 1960s onwards, there was rapid technological advancement enough to be called “the age of speed.” The Sewoon Plaza, which was constructed around this time, was a landmark that represented the media technology market, and the 1960s is also the period when Nam June Paik applied technology to create art.
Media art, which is the incorporation of technology and art, naturally followed the advancements of technology. This special exhibit Media Art X Sewoon Plaza focused on the point where the most special creations can be made and the incorporation of art and technology that happened in the Sewoon Plaza. We expect to share the process of countless experimental art and ideas that have gone through the Sewoon Plaza to finally become media art.
