The Seoul Museum of History and the Embassy of Guatemala in the Republic of Korea open a rather special exhibition entitled Maya: Sacred city-Tak’alik Ab’aj to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic tiles with Guatemala(2022).
Tak’alik Ab’aj is a Mayan archaeological site in the southwest of Guatemala. The site is unique because it shows the transition period between Olmec civilization and Maya civilization. The exhibition displays 30 photos of the remains of Tak’alik Ab’aj, related videos, and the Mayan traditional costumes.
We hope to encounter the unfamiliar Mayan civilization and broaden understanding of Guatemala and Central America. through this exhibition. And this exhibition will be a small gift for citizens who are thirsty for travel due to the prolonged COVID-19.
