세계적인 사진가 에드워드 버틴스키의 대규모 사진전
산업적 추출의 흔적이 추상의 미학으로 전환되는 순간을 통해, 인간의 욕망이 빚어낸 자연의 재구성에 대해 깊이 성찰하는 시간을 제공합니다. 서울역사박물관은 도시박물관으로서 도시의 문제를 외면하지 않고 전시를 통해 시민과의 대화를 이어가고자 합니다. 이번 전시를 통해 인류가 지구에 남긴 흔적을 돌아보는 의미 있는 계기가 되기를 바랍니다.
The Seoul Museum of History is honored to announce the opening of the large-scale photography exhibition BURTYNSKY: EXTRACTION / ABSTRACTION by internationally renowned photographer Edward Burtynsky, marking its first presentation in Asia.
In celebration of the Korea–Canada Year of Cultural Exchanges, this special exhibition offers a comprehensive survey of the artist’s work spanning more than forty years. By illuminating moments in which the traces of industrial EXTRACTION are transformed into the aesthetics of ABSTRACTION, the exhibition invites profound reflection on the reshaping of nature driven by human desire.
As a leading city museum, the Seoul Museum of History remains committed to engaging with urban issues and fostering dialogue with citizens through its exhibitions. We hope this exhibition will serve as a meaningful opportunity to reflect upon the traces humanity has left on our planet.
