Commemorating the centennial of the March 1 Independence Movement, the Seoul Museum of History presents an exhibition highlighting the nationalist movement led by the YMCA during the Japanese colonial rule of Korea and the YMCA building that housed the young men’s organization. The exhibition will continue through January 27. The YMCA building was the meeting place for the youths, and a place where they could access Western culture. It later became the center of the nationalist movement. The original building burned down during the Korean War but was reborn as a landmark in Jongro after being rebuilt as a seven-story structure.
